Quick Reminders

We have our first "away" swim meet this Saturday at 8:30am at the Nampa Rec Center.  I know it seems early for a Saturday but this mean going to bed early on Friday night.  It also means getting up early enough to eat before you swim. Good nutrition is vital to a great race.

Please continue to text or email if you are going to miss a practice.

Sweatshirts are in and 1st Meet Info

I am sooooooo excited!   Our team sweatshirts and caps are in.  Please make sure to stop by H-2 or see me before practice tonight.

Meet Info
Our first swim meet is this Saturday at the YMCA.   Even though the meet starts at 2:00pm, swimmers must be on deck, dressed out at 12:45.  This is a "home" meet, which means we need to set up and clean up.  Most meets run around 2 hours.  It is important to stay the whole time.

Meet Etiquette
1.  Show up on time.  Be dressed out and ready to go.
2.  Help out.
3.  Find a coach or team captain with a "heat sheet" and get your swimmer's tattoo. (This will have all your event info like what event you are in, your heat #, and your lane #)
4.  Keep track of what event is going on . . . .be behind the starting blocks at least 2 heats before you race.
5.  Get your time from the timers and report it back to the coach.
6.  Cheer on your teammates!
7.  Stay for the whole meet
8.  Clean up afterwards

Race Etiquette
1.  Show up to your races early. (around 2 heats early)
2.  Listen to the announcer.  Sometimes, they give extra directions
3.  When you are standing on the block, picture the race in your mind.  Think about fast dives, long streamlines, strong strokes, good flip turns, and "slamming into the wall" finishes.
4.  Do all the skills mentioned above.
5.  When you finish your race, STAY IN THE POOL, until the last swimmer in the race finishes.  Further on in the season, we stay in the pool and the next race will dive over our heads.  Then you may get out.
