I just received an email that they need to change our meet to next Friday, September 6th instead of Saturday, September 7th. The time will be 1:30 PM for coaches meeting and warm-ups at 2 PM. If you are driving with a parent you MUST be there no later than 1:50 PM. The van will be leaving the school at 10:00 AM.

Please let me know if you will be riding with a parent, as I only have room for 14 swimmers. If I have too many swimmers we will have to only take 14 kids to this meet and rotate for the next meet. It is a varsity meet, so these kids will get priorities if it comes to that. If your parent is driving and has room for anyone please let me know.

I HAVE TO HAVE 3 parents to volunteer as timers!! This is mandatory for every team in order to attend meets. Please let me know which meet your parent can volunteer for. I must have 3 volunteers for Friday, so text me or email me to let me know.

Thank You!!! I am so excited for our first meet and to watch you all shine!!!

Also - sweatshirts are ordered and so are swim suits. I have paid for these items on my own personal credit card, so make sure you get me the money as soon as possible. :)

Thank You!!!

Swimmers:
1. Only swimmers swimming at State get in for free. We have to check in as a team at 10:30 am tomorrow at the West YMCA front doors. (This is different than Districts)

2. Vision swimmer parking on deck is right by the room where the judges have their meeting, over by the slide. It is called the Hospitality area. We have to share the space with 106 other swimmers.

3. There is a coaches meeting at 10:45 am that Xavier will attend with me.

4. Warm ups are at 11:00 -11:45am sharp. We are sharing lanes 13-14 with Kuna, Nampa, Ridgevue and Vallivue.

5. The meet should begin at noon and be finished around 2:30.

6. All swimmers, regardless of place, will compete both Friday and Saturday.

7. Saturday Check in again as a team at 8:30am Warm Ups start at 9am and we will share lanes 9 and 10 with Boise.

8. We will march in the Parade of Athletes at 10:30am and the competition is due to start at 10:45am

9. On both days, we will have a break between the 50 free and the 100 fly.

10. Awards will take place at 5pm on Saturday.

11. As always, come prepared with healthy foods and plenty of water.

Parents
1. On Friday, you can buy tickets ahead of time on line or purchase at the southeast doors (like at Districts) I recommend buying in advance. If they sell out, you won't be allowed in.

2. Parents are not allowed on deck, not even for pictures. I'm sorry. I don't make the rules.

3. Saving seats isn't allowed

4. No coolers will be allowed in the stands

5. No balloons will be allowed in the facility.

6. Swimmers will participate in both Friday and Saturday's events regardless of placing.

7. Make sure to park in the designated zones. They will be towing tomorrow.

8. There will be an award ceremony on Saturday at 5pm for the top 6 in each event. Awards will be present on the platform on the far north wall of the facility. Pictures will be taken immediately following the awards presentation down below in the multipurpose room. Parents won't be allowed on deck to take pictures. ( Again, I don't make the rules) Pictures will be taken by the media and the IHSAA official photographer.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Hello all! I am sorry for getting this to you so late but I just received this information myself earlier today. Here is everything I know so far about Districts.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">1. Districts will be held this coming Tuesday, October, 23rd at the West YMCA. <span style="font-family: "roboto" , "arial" , sans-serif;">5959 N Discovery Way, Boise, ID 83713.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">2. I think doors will open for swimmers right at 7am. In years past we had to be there early to fight to get a spot on deck but this year, they said that there will be signs where we are supposed to sit.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">3. This is a long meet. You need to bring things to keep you entertained and fed all day.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">4. I can get the school's van to transport swimmers needing rides, however that means you are stuck with me all day. I have to be to at the pool no later than 6:45. That means we have to leave the school at 6 am sharp. I cannot wait for you if you are late. If we have swimmers that make it into the finals, we will probably be there until 9pm. It is a long day.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="color: #222222; font-family: "roboto" , "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: xx-small;">5. There are fees for parents to watch. <span style="color: #222222; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: xx-small;">Gate fees are $10, $7, $5 for both sessions & $6, $4, $3 for one session<span style="font-family: "roboto" , "arial" , sans-serif;">.

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: xx-small;">6. There will be around a 1 1/2 hour break between the end of prelims and before the start of Finals. It is slated to be around 1-3:30.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">7. The Y will be designating areas for each team in order to alleviate the chaos. Teams will be allowed to have their team banners. The pool will be cleared from 1-3:30pm. The Y is providing 10 porta potties. Spectators will not be allowed in the locker rooms.

This is our first local meet and they do things a bit differently than what we are used to. Please read carefully.

1. Doors at the Rec Center open at 8 am. There are 9 teams competing at this event so deck space is very limited. The bleachers are only for spectators. There is a back patio area where they want the teams to set up. They will have a speaker outside announcing the events.

2. Parents/Spectators have to pay to get in. Adults are $6, Students $4 and Seniors/Grade School students are $3. The Spectator entrance is on the west side of the Rec Center or around the corner, to the right of the main entrance.

3. The Nampa team is working really hard to keep the meet on track and get everyone out by noon. In other words, they aren't going to wait for you to get to the block. Make sure you are watching and listening to events.

It has been a rather crazy and slightly disappointing week with the COI pool being closed due to a filtration issue. Here is the schedule for the rest of the week:

Thursday, 8/23 and Friday, 8/24
Meet at the Spurwing Golf Course Pool at 6:30am - 7:30am. It is an outdoor pool so please dress appropriately. There are no locker rooms so you have to go home to get changed. Mrs. Oldenkamp has given us permission to be late to school. Try to be at school no later than 8:30 am.

Team suits arrived today and will be handed out at practice in the morning. Cross your fingers they fit.

Saturday, 8/25 Hailey Swim Meet

Meet at the school right before 5am if you need a ride or want to caravan. It takes roughly 2 hours and 50 minutes to get to the pool.

You must dress for both winter and summer. The meet is an outdoor meet and it is cold in the morning, then hot in the afternoon. I do have polarized goggles you can use to race outdoors to help minimize the glare of the sun.

You need to bring camp chairs, towels, breakfast, snacks and lunch. (think about the swim meet as day camping) If you are riding with me, I stop in town to get lunch before we go home. You are responsible for paying for yourself.

Warm ups are at 8:15 am and the meet starts at 9:00 am. It lasts right around 2 hours.

I am really excited for our first meet! We always do well at the Hailey pool. Below is the Invite to the meet, along with directions to get to the pool
This swim season we will be practicing at the College of Idaho pool. Practice will be 4 days a week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. For the first two weeks, practice will run from 6:15 - 8pm. After September 4th, Monday practice may be moved from 7:15 - 9 pm. I am just waiting to hear back from the college. You must attend 85% of the practices in order to participate at a swim meet, along with having 10 practices in before the first meet and passing grades in all core classes. Always send the coach a text or email if you cannot attend practice, along with the reason.

Yes! You must either meet the point requirements, State Tournament qualifying times or go to State on a relay team. You must also be recommended by the coaches for being a team player, having passing grades and no disciplinary issues at the pool or school.

No, however, you do need to be able to swim 1 lap in the College of Idaho pool. Swimmers are divided at practice according to ability. I do suggest you join a summer swim team, take lessons and/or take the time to brush up on your strokes before swim season starts in mid-August. We hit the ground running!

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "arial" , "tahoma" , "helvetica" , "freesans" , sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 18.4px;">No, however, you must be able to swim at least one lap, put your face in the water and be able to swim in the deep end. Because this is a competitive high school sanctioned sport, faster swimmers get first pick of events and relays.
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "arial" , "tahoma" , "helvetica" , "freesans" , sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 18.4px;">

Just as every person has specific tasks they are expected to accomplish in life, so too does every athlete have a set of tasks they are expected to fulfill on their team. Please be on time. Clear your schedule for practice. Be a supportive teammate to your fellow swimmers and an attentive listener to your coaches. Be ready to give 100%. Mrs. E's Blog Spothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14301224158383121574noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8242226192756392205.post-84660190543281229192017-10-22T20:48:00.001-07:002017-10-22T20:48:37.352-07:00Last Week of the Swim SeasonHello all!

Sadly, we weren't invited to Districts and no one made individual State times. While I am still looking into taking relays, it doesn't look promising. I will keep everyone informed as soon as I know more.

I am looking to do our awards banquet the week of November 6-10th. It will take place at Smoky Mountain Pizza in their banquet room. Again, I will let everyone know about the exact date this week.

Jackets and Team Photos

Our jackets finally arrived today and I will be sending them home with swimmers coming to practice. Which means now I can schedule team photos! I will be shooting for a Monday or Tuesday in about 2 weeks. I want to have them done before fall break.

Payments

I am still waiting to hear back from Mike (aquatics director) on a finalized price for swim team. When I called last Friday, he told me not to worry about it and he was super busy with other things. I will let you know the price as soon as he tells me. If anyone at the front desk gives you a bad time, please let them know that Mike hasn't sent us a bill yet.
